An homage to the mid-century golden age of flight, this image features the iconic Lockheed Constellation—fondly known as the “Connie.” This elegant propeller-driven airliner, introduced in 1943 and serving through the 1950s, is shown mirrored, creating a visual dialogue where movable stairs ferry passengers between “connecting flights”. Silvery engines gleam amid ethereal clouds, evoking the romance and promise of air travel’s heyday.
The aircraft rests forever near Eero Saarinen’s TWA Terminal at JFK Airport, completed in 1962, a masterpiece of futuristic design and modernist architecture. Though the Connie now rests permanently outside the TWA Terminal Five Flight Center, this composition breathes new life into the grounded plane, soaring once again on the wings of imagination and history.
